As promised -- good news on the feature film. New Line Cinema has green lighted APPALOOSA (greenlit?). It will star Ed Harris as Virgil Cole, and Viggo Mortenson as Everett Hitch. Harris will direct. Probably start shooting in the fall. Where, is yet to be decided. I've seen the first script and think it's about perfect (I had nothing to do with it). So far, Ed Harris has done everything he said he'd do -- that is not common, and I feel fortunate to be in business with him. I'm now angling for a walk on as a still deadly, but aging, gun fighter with a good looking hat, who doesn't have to get on a horse . . . SONGS THAT SPENSER TAUGHT ME, the CD my son, Dan, is doing (with a guest shot by Sugar Throat Bob) is finished. I've been promised a few early CD's this coming week. Then we'll figure out how best to market it. I'm hoping for an irresistable ground swell of demand. . . My first YA novel, EDENVILLE OWLS is out this month (4/24 I think). Get 'em young is our motto. . . And, in the interests of full disclosure, yes it's true, I was on a program on WPRO in Providence, RI last week, called Radio GirlFriends. My only excuse is that Joan was with me, and one of the Girlfriends is a friend of ours. But it doesn't do much for my attempts to cultivate a tough guy image. Worse still, during the entire two hours, neither the word "Stud" nor the word "Hunk" was ever spoken. Sigh!

Mr. Parker,
Excellent news about Apaloosa, I just recently bought and read a copy. It is compelling, and should be a great addition to your movie/television exposure.
I have an 11 year old son, and anxiously await the release of Edenville Owls, both for him to read, and selfishly, for myself to read as well.
Please keep us up to date on the CD release. Must buy, just to have and, of course, to help support your family.
Thanks for being you, and for all your offerings to keep us reading and entertained.

Hunk? Stud? Do you really want them to define you on the same shallow, purely physical level as Viggo?
*vbg*
Congratulations on Appaloosa. I look forward to seeing the movie when it's released.

I've been a fan for longer than I care to admit. I have a step-son who was hit by a car when he was four and suffered a severe head injury. He is 33 now, confined to a wheel-chair and I guess borderline "slow". He reads lots of different things on a young adult level and I can't wait to get him your new book, Edenville Owls! I think he will love it! Thanks for writing it and I'll let you know how it goes.
There is nothing that you have written that I have not read and enjoyed.
Thanks.

Hi Mr. Parker,
I can't wait to hear the new CD or to read Edenville Owls. They both sound like winners to me. I guess for the novel I will have to rent a kid, so I won't look silly... I have an image to protect as well. HAHA Anyway, keep it all coming. I read everything that has your name attached to it and have enjoyed them all. Thanks for the countless hours of enjoyment.
Cheers, Georgiann Kite

Hey Mr. Parker: You have been my favorite author for about 20 years now and always look forward to new books. Your last Jesse Stone book where he leaves Sunny because he can't get over his slutty ex really left me saying "shit" You have turned Jesse into a whinner. Jen has no redeaming qualities that I can tell. He really needs to dump her. Val

I have to agree with the poster, Val, about the latest Jesse Stone novel. I have enjoyed reading the Jesse Stone novels - the struggle Jesse has with his failed marriage and with alcohol. But you lost me in his latest. How long can he go on failing to come to terms with his demons? He seems to be getting weaker as a character.

Dear Mr. Parker,
good luck with the new knee. I enjoyed "Now and Then", but found Spenser's interaction with the police, FBI, and the CIA a bit pat at the end. Are you trying to say that "our government will farm out their dirty work to private loose cannons, and this time we were lucky because we know Spenser is basically good, and never mind the body count"? I can't decide how you meant it and you aren't sloppy...then again this is fiction. Otherwise I really loved the character development and the way Jerry Castigan came to haunt Spenser after all those years.
Thank you for writing. YOur books are my comfort food for the soul. I finished a first draft of a book and, not having your years of experience, yes I will have to rewrited it. Short stories, too. Writing is fun, it's like reading a book for the very first time. Thank you for inspiring me. And I love Sunny. She is a delight.

Have been reading all Spenser, Jesse Stone and Sunny Randall novels that our well stocked community library has, and over the years kept telling my husband he should try to read one at least, as I knew he would be hooked. Because he was not much of a reader at the time, it took quite a bit of convincing (one of our famous Canadian snowstorms helped!) but after the first Spenser novel he WAS hooked just as I knew he would be. Now, it is him haunting our public library, putting his name on the waiting list (yes, there is a waiting list for some of your books) when the next Spenser, Jesse Stone, or Sunny Randall novel he wants to read is not on the shelf. Your novels have accomplished what the schools years ago could not. Thank you.

Good morning Mr. Parker,
Could you please tell me the name of the Spenser novel where Spenser goes into hiding and he is thought dead? I understand this is one of your earlier works.
I am looking forward to reading your new releases! Thanks for the extraordinary entertainment.
Take care, Cheryl

Mr Parker i am a fan of Spenser for Hire, i think it is long overdue for a movie. I know
Robert Urich passed away but the perfect person to reprise that part would be George Clooney and Hawk should be played by the original along with the same cast. Just an idea..... since Magnum looks like its going to be remade. thanks again for your work. greg.
