Time to address some input from blogees:
Negotiations continue on the Spenser For Hire front. The mills of Hollywood grind exceeding fine. But I have no reason to think it won't happen in awhile. . . . The response to BRIMSTONE has been gratifying. I don't know very far ahead, what I'm going to write. But I rather don't like the idea of not writing anymore about Hitch and Cole, so, probably, I will. . . . to the high school teacher who is planning to teach my books to her 10th graders (shame on you), I think you should start with some of the adult stuff (maybe EARLY AUTUMN?) and then go back to CHASING THE BEAR. However, I can report that I was once banned in Concord New Hampshire ("live free, or die") because there were swears and maybe some tasteful sex (write what you know). CHASING THE BEAR has little of either. You know your students (and their parents); you should be the final judge. . . .as for the current baseball season, we need to get Papi turned around and Jed Lowrie back at short, after that I think the Sox roll on through the season to another World Series Championship . . . As for the Celtics, wait'll Kevin Garnett comes back. . . . Several of you have asked how I can produce so many books a year. One answer would be: I am a creative giant. Another would be: I have no life. But the truth is probably more that Joan thinks I should. . . . I am currently writing a book with the working title SIXKILL in which a new character joins Spenser's world. Probably be out next year. Joan likes it. . . . time to go box with my trainer (who has promised not to hurt me).

Wayne, I finished both of the Other RBP books, and I have an extra copy of Passport to Peril. If you would like me to mail it to you, please email me at lmchildress at eiu dot com with a mailing address.
It's good.
Nothing to say about our RBP. Apologies for railroading this place for something else. Will not happen again.
Waiting for things to come out in paperback... more or less patiently.

Hello Mr Parker,
I'm a BBC radio reporter, based in New York. We're doing a story about an unfinished Graham Greene thriller called The Empty Chair, which is being published for the first time this summer, as a serial in Strand magazine.
They will be commissioning a writer to finish the book. As you completed Raymond Chandler's last novel, I imagine you'd have an interesting perspective on working with another author's character and plot.
The interview would be broadcast on the BBC World Service arts programme, coincidentally also called the Strand. We have 150 million listeners worldwide, including all over the USA, where we broadcast on FM partner stations, as well as a dedicated Sirius XM channel. Here's the website:

My deadline for this is next Tuesday. You can contact me via email or on 917 558 5845, which is my cellphone. Thank you,
Andrew

By the way, I absolutely LOVE your spenser series! Mr. Parker, since the start of 2009 I am unable to restrain myself from bragging but I have so far read almost 100 books. I am torn between "A serious of Unfortuante Events" and the "Spenser Novels: Series" and I must say, Spenser comes out reigning as champion. Ever since J.K. Rowling put the mighty sword pen of "Harry PotteR" down, I though I would never see the "Times New Roamn" font printed on another book again. Alast, you sir have made your much respected writings a part of my life. I tip my hat to you sir!

I am so happy to read that more Virgil Cole and Everett Hitch stories are on the way. They are two of my favorite literary characters- both tough as nails and completely fearless. I really loved the addition of Pony Flores to the third book, also, and I hope he continues to make appearances in this series. Keep 'em coming- I can't get enough! Thank you.

Howdy Bob,
I just finished "Chasing The Bear" and I gotta say...another job well done. It was so cool reading about Spenser as a young boy, being raised by his dad and two uncles. After I read it, I picked up "A Catskill Eagle" (one of my faves) and noticed the referral about his dad and uncles raising him. I didn't remember reading about that the first time I read it.
Anyway...SPOILER ALERT! SPOILER ALERT! DO NOT SCROLL DOWN IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO KNOW INFO ABOUT "CHASING THE BEAR"
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
Everybody gone? Ok.
I was kinda disappointed in "Chasing The Bear" on one aspect. I was hoping we would find out Spenser's first name. I mean - we got his dad and uncle's first names (Sam, Cash and Patrick) but not young Spenser's. Of course, we don't know Cash and Patrick's LAST names, do we? I was also hoping that we would have had a little backstory on Spenser's "short barreled Smith & Wesson .38" that he always carries. Like maybe a section where his dad would have presented him with it or something.
Anyway...I'm rambling now.
Awesome read for young and old alike. I can hardly wait for "The Professional" as well as another Sunny Randall novel (pretty please!!!) and the next Jesse Stone movie, even though you had nothing to do with it's writing. Robert Harmon should know better. :(
Oh well.
As always,
You keep writin' 'em and I'll keep readin' 'em!
Sincerely...
Evan Lee

If they are going to do another Spencer for Hire who is going to play Spencer?
Avery Brooks should still be Hawk.

Good day Mr. Parker,
I usually don't write you about your work even though I have thought about it I just feel very grateful that you write the Spenser books. Unfortunately, Mr. Parker I must comment on the book "Rough Weather". I can read your books in one sitting most of the time and look forward to reading the next one for instance Hugger Mugger so Spenser-ess. Something was off with "Rough Weather". I love your work.

Hi, we love your books; all of them. My sister read her first Spenser about 20 years ago. We both love Spenser and Susan.
Thanks for your awesoen books and keep more coming and we'll keep buying them.

I have always thought Spenser needed to be brought back to tv, and TNT would be great for it or USA. I thought I would do it down the road, but someone beat me to the punch.

Mr. Parker,
Just read your blog and THRILLED that you haven't given up on Cole & Hitch!!! We DO NEED MORE of them in the tradition of APPALOOSA. In fact, I'd love to see them on the silver screen again!

Mr. Parker,
I just wanted to say that I have been a big fan of yours since I was a kid watching Spencer for Hire with my parents. I'm very excited about a Spencer revival and have loved reading the Spencer and Jesse Stone books for the past few years. Is there any news on the Spencer for Hire front? I also really enjoyed the Joe Montegna films, do you have any plans to resume that series? Thanks so much for your wonderful work. Keep it coming!

I am 74 and I have only been reading your books for about 5-6 years. SADLY!
I wish I had found your stories earlier in life. I am seriously trying to catch up by acquiring paperbacks; especially the ones from the 70s and 80s.
Since we both come from the same era (I, too was in Korea). I thoroughly enjoy the characters and the dialogue. And I now see you are much the same in the blog as you/Spenser are in the stories. Keep up the good work and Please, live long!!

I think it's time to play 'Where's Bob-O'. We haven't heard from him since May.

Mr. Parker usually does a posting here when he has a new book out, though there was one six-month stretch of not hearing from him a couple of years ago. Hopefully, he will post something soon and let us know about the new Jesse Stone TV movie, No Remorse.
By the way, I just finished The Professional (the newest "Spenser" novel) and loved it. I hope Spenser will be back on television soon and that whoever plays him will end up being perfect for the role.

Mr Parker
My favorite poem by e.e.cummings '
Buffalo Bill
Caught the reference in Professional. I thought the pragmatic aspect to Spenser's ethical code was perfect.

Greetings Mr. Parker,
I remember watching Spenser: For Hire as a teen, and that is actually where I developed my love for classic Mustangs; so I was amazed to find, as an adult, that the shows were based on a series of books. Ever since I made that discovery, I have read almost all of your books, currently missing the ones that are out in hardback. I feel the need to react to your blog about the new Spenser television show, though. The last made for tv movie that I recall, Small Vices,
had Joe Mantegna playing Spenser, and, in my opinion, that was the worst thing you could have done to him. An Italian actor should not play the role of Spenser, a good Irish detective. That said, in regard to your talk of a new series, I must request that you choose someone who will do honor to the role, as Robert Urich did. Thank you for your time!

Regarding the proposed remake of the "Spenser" series, if Sony/Dreamworks doesn't pick up Nathan Fillion for the role, they're nuts. He desperately needs to be rescued from the horrible "Castle" on ABC.

I am a voracious reader and I always read anything I can find that you have written. Since I work in a used book store where we order new hardbacks and audio books to rent, I get to read most of your books right away. I always look forward to the next book coming out. Unfortunately, people don't seem to trade in your books as much as they do other writer's books, so I have trouble finding some of the westerns and non-series books, which we don't buy. (Don't know why, but westerns just don't rent well.) Have to go on-line to find them.
I really liked it that Jesse and Sunny finally stopped being such losers, grew up, and got on with life. I know from experience that people who use other people the way Jenn and Richie used Jesse and Sunny don't ever stop and don't ever give anything of themselves that has any value and they never let go of a victim until they have to do so. I got on with my life 27 years ago and kicked the user out for good. Been very happily married now for 26 years! Hope Jesse and Sunny will be happy, too.
Looking forward to the next book. Thanks for the great reads!

Dr. P--we need an update! More S:FH news? Any more Sunny Randall books, or is she now part of the Stone series? Flak copy indicates she's a big part of Split Image. What's the "non-series" book for 2010? Inquiring minds are never idle!

Hello! Another voracious fan here. I too was introduced to your work through Sunny Randall (though I remember the SFH series in the 80s, I was but a young kid then). Now have read all of Sunny and Jesse, and most of Spenser. Have had some trouble getting the earliest backlist.
I wanted to put in my vote for another Sunny novel. I just love her. I was originally skeptical about a man writing with a woman's voice, but of course I was totally wrong! I want to be Sunny when I grow up (though technically I guess we're about the same age, LOL).
Will we see your puppy Emma in Sunny's next book? I was sorry to read in Night & Day that Rosie was no more. I really loved Rosie!

Hi Bob,
I hope this email finds its way to you.
I am a wanna be book writer. I have a story...along the lines of murder/mystery/corruption.
Of course, it's a great one!:)
I actually have a few...
Would love to know if someone like yourself would consider a sort of 'co-sponsorship?'
Is co-authoring out of the question?
Do successful and talented novelist, such as yourself, even consider such an outlandish request?
Can my story be sold to one such as yourself or is this so far fetched from any consideration?
You can laugh and roll your eyes, but I am at least hopeful you could perhpas respond -good, bad or otherwise!
